Jared Leto

Jared Leto has been a huge contributor towards film and music in the 20th and 21st century. He is still continuing to create an impact on society today.

Leto is well known for being the lead singer of the band 30 Seconds to Mars. However, he was previously well known for his acting career. He stared in films by taking the lead role in the 1998 period drama “Basil”. He was also in the well-known film ‘Thin Red Line’ with George Cloony and Nick Nolte. He later acted in “Panic Room” and took the lead for “Chapter 27” (2007), where he played the man who killed John Lennon.

It would seem that through the roles Leto has played to date, he has an interest in dark, twisted and manipulative characters. It feels as though he has connected with the character in some way. His expression and movement matches the way these characters should be. For example, the film “Chapter 27” is about Mark David Chapman and the lead up to the murder of Beatle, John Lennon. For this film Jared Leto had to gain 60 pounds so that he represented the character perfectly. His husky, deep voice and constant hunching over to create a feel of empowerment from him compared to the other protagonists.

Since 1998, Jerad Leto created the band, 30 Second to Mars, with his brother Shannon. Their first album, Beautiful Lie, which included their well-known single “The Kill”, generated a large buzz towards a young adult audience.

With his albums proving extremely successful, Leto dropped out of acting and focused on his music career. This is War album (2009) was a massive success and the music videos made were directed by Leto himself. The music video ‘Hurricane’ was video of the year at MTV Buzzworthy.

The album This is War was the making of 30 Seconds to Mars. A film called 'Artifact' is coming out soon, which explains the struggles that the band went through regarding, money, relationship between their record label and decisions that were needed to be made, fast.Visit this link to find out more:  http://www.thirtysecondstomars.com/

I have seen 30 Seconds to Mars live, and not only do they bring so much passion and enthusiasm to the stage, they continuously consider the audience and involve them throughout the performance. They are an international success, and I have no doubt that they will continue for a long time.
