Watermelon Sculpture

I love fruit. I would happily sit and gulf down a tub of grapes or oranges. The one fruit I do not enjoy eating is watermelon. I find its inner flesh too mushy, it just slides down my throat far too easily. Even though I do not enjoy eating watermelons I was shocked to see what people actually did with them.

Crafting into watermelons has now become an art. The images and shapes that people can carve out of them are astonishing. So much detail has been put into them it truly is extraordinary. The skill and patience that these people go through is shown through the stunning finish of the sculpture they have made out of a watermelon.

This art has said to have started in China. Artists used to use fruit as their object to sketch, paint etc. It has now turned around and now fruit is the canvas.

It is an incredible way of recycling, not buying paper and pencils where if you do something wrong it is normally thrown away. This way if you sculpt into a watermelon incorrectly, you just eat, it's a win, win.
